This three-piece set of ultrasharp knives should cover nearly every daily task in your home kitchen. The 8-inch chef's knife is the most popular all-around knife for slicing and chopping, while the 6-inch utility knife will easily slice and dice smaller items, and the paring knife is great for peeling apples or slicing potatoes. Fully forged from a single bar of ultrahigh-carbon stainless metal alloy, each knife features a molded-on black molten polymer handle weighted for optimal balance. Made from a unique alloy called Trizor steel, these knives have a higher carbon content than other kitchen knives, giving them a higher tensile strength, which makes them stronger and more resilient. The full-length tang (the metal continues all the way through to the end of the handle) means you get a better-balanced and stronger knife. The ultrasharp blades come out of the box 2 to 3 times sharper than those of other brands, and the edges last up to 10 times longer. Even so, the blades can be sharpened with conventional sharpeners. Molded-on handles are safe in the dishwasher, but hand washing is recommended to keep steel blades scratch free. --Doree Armstrong
